Māori are often reflected poorly in statistics from education and income to poverty, and it's no different when it comes to health. Compared to other tauiwi, Māori health outcomes have been less than positive - so who better to be the drivers of this change than Māori themselves? With our whakapapa, tikanga and mātauranga Māori, only we are able to best understand our people. There are not enough Māori in the health sector, but with more Māori, we can improve the health outcomes of our own people.
