Public Health
Carrie Bryer - Ngāpuhi.
Carrie was exposed to many issues within the healthcare system when her dad was unwell and it got her thinking as to why Māori weren't actively seeking healthcare when needed. From this experience she was inspired to explore her options in health. Her community supported her in her studies to first become a nurse, until she later realised she had what it took to become a doctor. Carrie has now completed her Public Health registrar training, which she did in Auckland. Public Health looks at the issues that can threaten the wider public, from disease, natural disasters and more - Public Health looks at the why questions.
