Tertiary institutions can vary in many ways including the focus of study or training, whether its more research-based or practical. Your style of learning might influence where you go to study! Universities have an academic focus, where courses concentrate on research and theory. Polytechs on the other hand offer a practical style of learning where you will leave with skills and knowledge that will be valuable to your chosen industry. While Wānanga are similar, courses are underpinned by tikanga Māori and supported by kaupapa Māori. What kind of learner are you?
